2013 Awards Reception and Ceremony

IMG_1485The winners of last year’s Language Learner Literature Awards were officially announced at the IATEFL Annual Conference in Harrogate, UK. On Wednesday 2nd April, conference delegates and special guests were welcomed by ERF board members to an informal gathering enlivened by the marvelous music of Steve Bingham on the violin.

The reception was followed by the awards ceremony which was presented by Jeremy Harmer accompanied by Steve doing the background music and special sound effects. Certificates were awarded to the authors of the winners in each of the five categories or their publishers’ representatives.

The Milne Innovation Award 2013 was granted to Professor Richard Day, from the University of Hawaii, one of the founding members of the ERF for his life-long commitment to the cause of extensive reading. Richard was not able to be present to the ceremony but accepted the award online.

The ERF would like to thank all the sponsors, especially the British Council and also IATEFL for all the support that make the LLL Awards ceremony possible. Thanks to the publishers and authors for keep investing in extensive reading and thanks to all who helped to organize the event.
