July 2024 witnessed the greatest “Roadshow” to date with ERF Executive Board Member Ann Mayeda and a team of IERA members, led by Dr. Fenty Siregar (Bandung) conducted multiple 2-3 day workshops in the eastern part of Indonesia. Dr. Willy Renendya delivered a plenary address at the ISOLEC conference in Malang, followed by a 2-day workshop in UNESA in Surabaya with Pak Willy and Bu Francisca Maria Ivone leading the event. As you can see from the map, Ann was joined for each following event by an IERA member; West Sumba with Bu Anita Kurniawati, Kupang (Timor Island) with Bu Anik Wulyani, and Flores Island with Bu Ivone. All events were well attended, but the FLORETA event boasted the largest with 88 teachers in attendance. All of the events featured a distribution of “Wuri and the Waves” which was written by Michael Lacey Freeman with young Indonesian learners in mind. It was designed not only to be easy to read but also to build their cultural understanding and national pride.
