Cory Koby, ERWC6 Conference Chair, along with Rob Waring of the ERF Executive Committee visited Bali towards the end of January for a much-needed inspection tour. While the ERF has an affiliate in Indonesia, IERA, none of the current executive members live in Bali and running a conference of the scope of the 6th Extensive Reading World Congress without any “feet on the ground” is challenging to say the least. Fortunately, we knew Dr. Made Hery Santosa of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha who kindly agreed to be the Local Chair. In addition, through the kind offices of Dr. Ni Luh Nyoman Seri Malini of Universitas Udayana, which is centrally located near the ERWC6 site, we have attained their cooperation as a co-host of the event. Another agreement with Universitas Mahasaraswati will be signed later. All three universities will offer support by recruiting student helpers, lending equipment and, in the case of U. Udayana managing the registration fees for Indonesian residents on behalf of the ERF.
