With the generous assistance of the U.S. Department of State Regional English Language Office in Jakarta headed by Bradley Horn, Marc Helgesen, Past Chair of the ERF and Thomas Robb, Chair, along with the local Indonesian Extensive Reading Association (IERA) team toured the island of Java, giving workshops to teachers, teacher trainers, librarians and government officials on the merits of the Extensive Reading Approach.   As a result, some participants have already asked to use MReader and Tom has been asked to return in July to train teachers and teacher trainers in Bandung. Other teachers have asked IERA to help at future dates to be determined. Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Embassy, a lottery is in progress which will provide books to one lucky school in each of the workshop locations.

The Roadshow would not have been possible without the assistance of the “Four Angels” of IERA that made all of the arrangements for the venues, transportation and hotels.

Profound thanks are extended to Yuseva Iswandari, Lhaksmita Anandari, Lanoke Paradita and Anita Kurniawati, along with additional IERA members at each location.

Here are the reports submitted by Marc and Tom to the U.S. Department of State.
