The Extensive Reading Foundation

Despite the ideal that students will want to read purely for pleasure, when dealing with large numbers of students some method is required to track their reading progress. The MoodleReader software currently contains easy quizzes for 470 popular graded reader titles as well as a growing collection for "Youth Literature" written for native speaker children and adolescents.

The purpose of the quizzes is merely to assess whether students have read the books, so questions do not test memory or complex plot elements. Many students complete the 10-item randmized quizzes in 3 minutes or less.

The software can be installed on your school's own Moodle server, or can be used via a course set up on http://moodlereader.org free of charge.
